Captain
Karen M. Kahn
Karen
Kahn has been actively involved in aviation for the past 32 years.
She holds all ratings through ATP including an MD-80 type rating
and was the first woman to be type-rated in a Lockheed JetStar.
Her other ratings include flight engineer, seaplane, glider, helicopter
(commercial and instrument) and she's an active flight instructor for
both instruments and multi-engine.
Prior to
starting her airline career in 1977, she instructed at Sierra Academy of
Aeronautics and later ran her own accelerated weekend ground school.
Presently, she's flying as Captain on the B757 and B767 for a major US air
carrier. During the last 28 years she's also flown the MD80, DC-10 and
Boeing 727 on both international and domestic routes.
She's a
frequent speaker at pilot seminars and career workshops, as well as a
regular contributor to numerous aviation publications. She's the author
of "Flight Guide for
Success: Tips and Tactics for the Aspiring Airline Pilot"
which contains "effective and helpful advice for anyone --
male or female -- who aspires to a commercial flying career."
